Tour Down Under and more

Training for TDU by Team Sky fb
So there we go! finally! YOP YOP! I'm  definitely excited waiting for the start of the first race of the season 2012.
The wheel never stoped to turn: many races were raced in those parts of the World where Winter is Summer or 'seasons' concept doesn't really apply.
And we had cyclocross - we still have it but when RR season begins... it goes out focus, doesn't it? for many of us at least.
BDW I watched some national cross championships and want to share just two feelings: a great joy for Pit Schlechter U23 victory in Luxembourg, a great sadness for Bart Wellens who got suddenly and badly sick just the day before the Belgian NC, he's better now but the first news were really scaring. Good luck both, for cycling and for life!
National Championships also in Australia but on the road: my favourite Cameron Meyer lost his title, new champs are Simon Gerrans and Luke Durbridge, female champs Amanda Spratt and Shara Gillow. BDW something is moving in female cycling and it's very interesting. I don't follow it but support it: go ahead girls! you deserve more respect - and money!
Cameron Meyer won last Tour Down Under. Can he do it again? his new team GreenEdge would be very glad. His ex team - Garmin - looks strong and Hesjedal is motivated: "As soon as the Willunga Hill top finish was announced, I asked my team to do this race again" (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/hesjedal-with-garmin-to-turn-tour-down-under-into-a-climbers-race). TDU isn't anymore a race for sprinters - even if sprinters keep their opportunities to shine - so teams selection is different then in past. RadioShack Nissan Trek brings Daniele Bennati but also Linus Gerdeman: two guys who can show something there. Bennati was sick and couldn't take part in the team presentation: hopefully he's better now but his shape isn't probably perfect. Gerdeman... I don't know :) In Calpe he looked very well, especially climbing. We will see.
Reading the names in the start list is like to meet old good friends again!
