Not a happy Ronde for Tom Boonen

Pic by Tim de Waele
The race started in the incredible crowd of Brugge. There was a break -  Klier, Dowsett, Dempster - but after 48 km (on almost 300) it was already over. And it's over for Tom Boonen: crashed, retired, off to the hospital. There he "received stitches on his knee." according with quoting Spotza Andre Meganck and " X-ray's are currently being made of hip and back". His team says he will not race Roubaix probably.
Official team release says: "Boonen has a contusion at his left hip, as well as a wound on his left elbow. He also has a contusion and a wound on his right knee that required a few stitches, according to Tegner. Boonen is now undergoing X-rays to exclude any fractures."
Sometimes riders have a off-day, sometimes they have a off-year. They are not machines. And the Ronde is open, waiting for a winner to go and grab it. Lets see!
And "X-Rays fortunately showed NO fractures"
