Tour of Oman 4: finish order analyzed and Andy Schleck performance

No: I'm not persuaded. Andy's result is way under my expectations, and they were quite realistic. He said: "I'm not specifically looking for a result that looks good on paper. I'd hope on the climbs I can stay with the 10 best in front." That's very different to aim to the final top ten so Cyclingnews title was wrong. But still I wonder how you can feed this 'hope' and get dropped by 70 riders. Lets say 40: the front group when he was left behinde. After he obviously didn't try to come back.
DS Kim Andersen is unconcerned and says Andy simply lacks days of race. Ok. That's a good explaination of why he didn't attack on the last climb like Froome or Nibali. But it doesn't explain at all why he couldn't stay with those 40 riders.
Take Arnold Jeannesson, a good climber. He finished 26th. Tour of Oman is his first race as well.
By the way, he is not happy with his result:  http://www.equipecyclistefdj.fr/actualites/tour-d-oman-etape-4-895.html
Kim Andersen says Andy was empty after 140 km. I don't see how a Tour de France contender who had a good winter and trained hard till last week could get such a 'cotta'. It's possible - all is possible! - but why he and not all those others in the first group! they are all there, nobody was 'empty'.
No, I'm sorry but I'm not persuaded.
Andy used to do the same in Mallorca Challenge and in his first races in Spain or Italy: a collection of disappointing results and then, in April, a top performance in the Ardennes. Since there he was good and in July could fight for the victory in the only race he cares about: the Tour.
So I'm more annoyed than worried. And I know it's useless: Andy isn't a 'regular' rider. He can be absolutely bad now and absolutely good tomorrow. Moreover he can be a pity at the start of the season and splendid in June and July. I hope he's going to do that again. And so far... lets suffer a bit.
