Dauphiné 4: Action!

Embedded image permalink
A breaky day. 71 km to go Keizer and Van der Sande have 6'40".
Cofidis and MTN are chasing the two escapees. Still the gap is 5'01" 29 km to go. Showers on the race, hopefully dry at the finish. The breakers are digging deep.
14 km to go the gap drops. Côte de la Marquise (4th cat): 1.3 km with an average gradient of 6.7%. and the peloton explodes. Garmin in front, Gautier attacks, two Tinkoff got a mechanical and stop in the middle of the steep road, everybody had to slow down!

Keldermann gets off the bunch with Alaphilippe and chases. Just Keizer and Wellens are left ahead 7.4km to go. Nibali pulls the peloton across the chasers, then takes off with them. 4 km to go all chasers are caught.
Wellens goes solo but is also caught 2 km to go. Gallopin attacks 1.2km to go and got a gap: he's caught and it's a bunch sprint. Bouhanni wins with an impressive progression. WHAT A DAY!
