TdF 6: Seconds

Embedded image permalink"It takes a second to say good bye, say good bye say good bye..." A song in my mind watching three riders going down in the finale: Tony Martin, Vincenzo Nibali...
It takes a second: team mates escort to the finish Tomy Martin, in Yellow, holding his shoulder. A broken collarbone.

Embedded image permalinkVincenzo Nibali looks fine. The crash was inside the last 3 km so he lost no time. But still... Nairo Quintana also arrives with a gap. On the short climb Stybar won, taking advantage of a second of disorientation dued maybe to the crash.
Embedded image permalinkWindy stage by the beautiful sea of the North. A compact peloton pedaling shoulder to shoulder. Three riders in a break including Teklehaimanot who systematicly sprinted for every KOM: in Polka Dot Jersey at the end of the stage.
Avccording to The Cycling Podcast ‏@cycling_podcast: "Strange scenes. Froome rode past Sky bus to Astana, 7 buses up, and went in to speak to Nibali. Luke Rowe was with him". Nibali thought it was Froome's fault, so Froome went to clarify.

Tony Martin:
"I touched the back wheel of a Europcar rider. It was stressful like always. I can’t really remember but as usual with crashes when they are not at high speed, normally the injuries are the worst."

Chris Froome:
"Managed to get through with minor graze to the knee. Hope everyone involved, especially @tonymartin85, is okay! #TDF"
"There was some confusion as to who caused the crash, wanted to clear that up with @AstanaTeam @vincenzonibali (definitely wasn’t me!)"

Nairo Quintana:
"It’s a superficial knock, and I hope the elbow is all right tomorrow. I’m fine, right now in the immediate aftermath I’m not noticing anything but I hope I’ll be okay."

Bauke Mollema:
"The yellow jersey doesn't bring too much luck so far. Hope everyone is OK! #TDF2015"

Vincenzo Nibali
"Dopo la caduta pensavo fosse stato @chrisfroome, ma poi lui è venuto da me e ci siamo chiariti e mi sono scusato con lui!! C'è da recuperare qualche escoriazione ed un pó di colpi, non è mai piacevole andare giù con il resto de gruppo sopra!!"
[After the crash I thought it was Froome's fault but he came and we clarify it and I apologised!! I have to recover from some bruises and some hits, it's never nice to go down with the rest of the group on you!!]

Daniel Teklehaimanot:

"I'm really happy about what happened today. I can't believe it. That was my childhood dream to get the polka dot jersey at the Tour de France. I was excited about having just for one day. I followed exactly the team's plan we were had this morning. I made it in a group of three riders. After I scored two points, I was nervous that I wouldn't take one more, otherwise I would be left with nothing."

Zdeněk Štybar:
"The stage on the cobbles was actually my goal. That I wanted to win. That did not work, but here I could do it. And that makes everything right.
I'm very lucky that I can win in front of my wife Ine and my son Lewis. The victory is for them."
