The Secret Excitement Of Circular Stuff: Tour Down Under and Tour de San Luis Stage 1

Caleb Ewan in Ocra
Irrepressible, unstoppable, mad: the road season kicks off and I feel great. Here the sun shines in a perfect blue sky and in spite of the cold I went reading in the park my big book by Derrida. There is a secret excitement in circular stuff: you know it will come, you miss it and wait for it, you enjoy the day when it comes and get gradually used, you finally feel slightly fed up and it ends, but still you know it's going to come again. And again, and again...
I'm hanging out with this one :)
Yeah! it's a kind of mild addiction. So now I'm eager to watch a road race, no matter the quality of the broadcast nor the time. Last night I watched the Tour de San Luis stage 1 and it was honestly poor. I watched it anyway, all cheerful for the amateur direction and the patchy comment. I didn't watch the Tour Down Under because it was incompatible with my body clock. I used to change my time zone when Andy Schleck was involved and as a consequence to going around as a zombie. No more. I got my freedom.
Down under races are properly produced though so I know I'm missing something good. As far as the race itself, I missed another stunning victory by Caleb Ewan and the sparkling self introducion of the young Sean Lake, a name to sign down. In San Luis Etixx-QS won the inaugural - boring - TTT. It was hot. Maximiliano Richeze is leading the overall.

Caleb Ewan:
“I was feeling good and the team showed their faith in me by riding on the front all day. It’s a really big confidence boost and that’s exactly what I need going into the season. It’s a really proud moment for me, I’ve never led a WorldTour race before and to do it for the first time in my home country is a real honour for me.”

Sean Lake:
"Stoked to pick up the Kom jersey today in first world tour race, didn't make it look easy…"
