Paris-Nice Prologue: BLING! ...and My Awful Week

It's dark like at night and raining like hell. What a Sunday in Florence! The Race to the Sun started also in a quite cold weather.
It was an ITT and Michael Matthews won it on DumoulinBravo Bevin, 3rd.
Looking to the fight for Yellow, Geraint Thomas' 7th place is gold.

As far as me, it has been a very hard week: on Wednesday my son got a flu and sure I got it too. On Thursday I went to work anyway but I had to quit earlier because of a unbearable headache. At home I found out I was having high fever so on Friday I was sick in bed. On Saturday I went to work anyway: a collegue must take a day off and teachers only can if somebody take their place, she had asked me and I had said yes. I had to go.
I went to sleep early but at 3 am I suddenly woke up: my son was beating on the wall between our rooms, I ran and found his bed full of blood! Don't worry, he's fine. He was just bleeding from his nose. A LOT. I had to help him to the bathroom, to stop the bleeding, to change clean the bed...
Yesterday it has been really an awful day at school. I wasn't completely healed, ok, but my students gave their worst: arrogant, presumtuous, rude and deeply ignorant. I gave a lesson about the emotions that's usually apreciated: students are curious and interested. These ones instead were just bored! In add only 4 on 40 had done their homework!
Let me say sometimes I hate this job. And I was shattered last night, angry and frustrated. I brought my colours to the kitchen and spent the next hours painting listening to the music.
I was feeling better after it and happy with my paints. I had also had my Psichology's lesson published and readers' reaction was good. Yes, my students are rude and their level is low but fortunately that's just a little part of my life.
My son's flu is over and we had a lovely Sunday so far, with coffee and cake at L'Arte del Sogno and procycling. Outside is dark like at night and pourring rain but inside it's cosy and bright. We are the light, do you know? :)

Michael Matthews:
"My first race of the 2016 season. Couldn't be happier with the result!"
"It's my first race of the season so to beat a guy like Dumoulin who is one of the best time trial specialists in the world, it's definitely very special. It wasn't really on the top of my goals list for Paris-Nice. I was hoping for a top five today to be around the guys and then try and take the yellow in one of the next stages. It obviously all came together and I am happy I was able to take the win. We will take it day by day and now that I have the jersey we will just try and look after it for as long as possible."

Tyler Farrar:

"Today was mostly just about getting things going for the rest of the week. I am definitely not any sort of time trial specialist but it was nice to open up the legs a little bit and put a hard effort in. Hopefully it has primed the engine now for the next few days."

Sep Vanmarcke:
"Good start in @ParisNice! 15th in prologe, happy with that. I'm getting it under de knie 😋 (@eigenkweek 😉)"

Wilco Kelderman:
"I expected more. I was counting on a top five. I started early and now I don’t know if that was the right choice. But I can build on this even if I’m not satisfied. I feel good and I’ll concentrate on the rest of the race and the general classification.”

Alberto Contador:
“I lost time compared to most of the GC contenders but there are still so many kilometres ahead of us. The first sensations were good, we now have to take each day as it comes."
